Skylights -- Let The Sunshine In!

Skylights are a terrific and energy saving way to let in the light. They go from large and multiple skylights that you can open and close with the flip of a switch to sun-tubes -- the latter are installed from the roof down to a ceiling, and they stay there. These can be bright little beacons of light in your kitchen or den and they are relatively inexpensive. An old skylight may develop a leak in the gasket which seals it into the ceiling and roof. Inspect your skylights frequently because if a leak can be caught early it may be repaired. As with anything, skylights can wear out so looking at all of the wonderful new models that are available now, will put a few ideas into your head! Skylights that open (and most have screens on them) are an energy saver as they draw up the hot air and take it out of the ceiling, so they will save you on cooling costs.
