Sound Proofing -- What? WHAT?????
Do you have a teenager who likes to practice drumming? Are you an audio nut who loves to turn up the sound? Are you a piano teacher living in the city and worried about next door neighbors? All of us have found the need for soundproofing, or wished we had it, at some time in our lives. Soundproofing is usually added at the time when the home is built but it can be added after the fact as well. Unless you want to rip out your walls and add insulation, which also soundproofs, then aftermarket soundproofing will be the answer. There are many fixes you can try yourself, but if you are desperate then check out a few soundproofing professionals on this site. If you want to try some things, even if they are only temporary. covering foam panels with fabric and attaching them to the walls can help. Cork also insulates. Try blocking the sound with furniture or a full bookcase. Or, you can use earplugs if you are hearing the sound, or mute the sound if you are making the noise, and call in the pros.
