Stairs -- Up & down and around we go

Stairs are necessary if you have a two-story or more houses. Of course, that's obvious, but what kind of stairs you need, have, or want to renovate, is not. A factor in stairs is safety. All should have a hand rail that's easy to sue and at a good height for children or adults to use. Railings should be firmly attached and make sure that spaces in between the rails are not a danger to children or pets. Carpeting on a staircase provides traction but can be a little difficult to vacuum. Wood stairs need some kind of traction because when polished they will be slippery. Check your handrails often to make sure that the screws are tight and if you have a period home with one of that lovely spiral staircase then if it needs repair, be sure and get an expert because the integrity of the look should be maintained.
