Tile -- Tiling -- Beautiful Squares for Your Floors

Tiles number in the thousands and many can be installed by a homeowner themselves, or if it's a large or more complex job then a professional company will be able to help. Tiles can be made from natural stones such as marble, granite and slate, or made from ceramic or vinyl, or wood, or porcelain, or recycled materials and even carpet! Think about your use for the room you want to tile or have tiled, and that can determine what type of tiles will be used. Various materials to stick the tiles to the floor are often recommended by the manufacturer. There's glue, just laying the tiles down, plus then grouting to seal all of the cracks and the tops of the tiles. Some tiles have to be sealed after that to prevent staining. Natural stones tiles shouldn't be laid down like a checkerboard because they vary in size a little. Check on what subfloor is needed for the type of tile you pick out, but in any case, it has to be smooth, level, and bump free.
