Building Codes -- Why We Need Building Codes

Buildings have to be built, and then inspected, at certain milestones in their construction. Perhaps the area where the house is to be built lies on or near an earthquake fault. Certain grades of construction materials have to be used, and this is different in most countries. Floods and wildfires are also noted and they are usually behind some construction codes. Countries across the globe have very different building codes. Some have only a few, and a few have none. Some Western countries provide a lot of guidance and regulation to the construction industry. Of course, the wise choice is to read up and get advice on building codes in your area, before you even break ground. There' bound to be a building code for doing that. Building codes are there for a reason. They protect the citizens of a country's towns and cities and rural areas. Society is the one that enacts them and puts them into law.
