Fireplaces & Accessories -- Nothing like A Cozy Fire in winter!

Fireplaces have been around in some form for many thousands of years. They used to be mere campfires either outside or in a cave. Grand stone fireplaces were built in castles and our modern concept of a fireplace sort of grew up from that. We can have fireplaces in any sized home, There are also stoves, such as the classic pot-bellied ones. Fuel for a fire can range from wood to wood pellets to alcohol to electricity (either heat producing or just for show). You can buy electric fireplaces that come in a box and all you need to do is plug them in. They don't need venting. A more standard wood-burning fireplace has to be kept up with occasional chimney sweeping or you could get a fire in your chimney! Also, the flue should be in working order or thick clouds of black smoke will make you cough. If you have a wood burning stove then a short set of tools will work. A larger and standard fireplace will need regular-sized tools. Place an appropriate screen in front of any fireplace that has flames or sparks.
