Handyman -- Handyman or Handywoman for Your Chores

Are you not handy at all? There are people who can do some light home repairs or chores for you. Unless you've known someone for years and they've done work for you before, be careful when you go looking for a general handyman or woman. Repair people should have references especially, as they will be working in your home. In a lot of areas of the country, repairs done to your home do not require that a person be licensed, if they amount to an average of $500. If you need a licensed person, then check up on the license. Make sure that you both have a clear understanding of the project or projects to be done and make out a simple contract with a timeline. Who will pay for the parts if needed? Never leave your home unattended if you don't know the handyperson very well. Don't pay upfront for parts or labor until you know the person better. And, check references before they start.
